Overview

  • Israel said Hezbollah fired several rockets at troops near Rab al-Thalathine and sent a drone toward northern Israel on Tuesday, and the army said it struck the launcher and intercepted the drone.
  • Hezbollah said it targeted an Israeli position after what it called Israeli strikes and home demolitions that breached the truce, as Israel keeps forces 5 to 10 kilometers inside Lebanon along a declared “forward defense line.”
  • The United States plans ambassador-level talks between Israel and Lebanon in Washington on Thursday under the 10-day pause, even though Hezbollah is outside the negotiations and is not formally bound by state commitments.
  • Lebanon’s parliament speaker Nabih Berri warned Israeli troops would face resistance if they do not withdraw, while Prime Minister Nawaf Salam said his government seeks full Israeli pullout, prisoner returns, and the safe return of displaced people.
  • France pressed Beirut on ceasefire adherence and sovereignty after a French UN peacekeeper was killed in the south in an attack Paris and UNIFIL blamed on Hezbollah, and Lebanese authorities report roughly 2,300 deaths from Israeli strikes since early March.
