Israel Kills Senior Hamas Security Leaders in Northern Gaza

Israel says the strikes removed key operatives to stop Hamas from rebuilding its internal security network by targeting senior members of the group’s General Security Apparatus.

Overview

  • Israeli forces and Shin Bet said they killed several senior members of Hamas’s General Security Apparatus, including deputy head Hassan Rabah Hassan Labad, in overnight strikes in northern Gaza on Thursday.
  • Israeli statements named three other senior operatives as killed: Asim Amin Shalash Shubair, Abdullah Ata Younes Abu Kaloub, and Muhammad Naaman Zaki Abu Mark.
  • The military said the unit targeted is a clandestine body that protects Hamas leaders, manages secure communications and coordinates movements and that the operatives were rebuilding the group’s command-and-control and aiding attack planning.
  • Israel said the operation used precision munitions and extensive aerial surveillance to reduce civilian harm and that IDF forces under Southern Command remain deployed in the area.
  • Reporting is based on IDF and Shin Bet statements; independent verification and a public response from Hamas were not included in the coverage, and the strikes follow earlier targeted removals of Hamas commanders after the October 2025 ceasefire.
