Overview
- Durkan entered guilty pleas to 19 counts at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday and had previously admitted seven other voyeurism charges, bringing the total to 26 offences.
- Officers arrested him during a proactive patrol on March 25 after doorbell and CCTV footage showed a man loitering and appearing to film into homes in Islington.
- Police found a hidden gallery on one device containing 162 videos and 99 photos almost all showing women who appeared unaware they were being filmed and seized five further mobiles and a small camera from his home.
- Detectives have linked offences back to January 2020 and are asking women in Islington and north London to check doorbell or CCTV footage and contact Operation Paringa at OpParinga@met.police.uk or Crimestoppers.
- Durkan has been released on conditional bail while specially trained officers support identified victims and detectives review historic unsolved reports as they prepare evidence for Crown Court sentencing.
