Overview
- A jury found Kwong (Tony) Chun Sit guilty on June 17 of 11 felony counts of animal cruelty and multiple counts for trying to destroy evidence.
- Sit’s girlfriend, Tingfeng Liu, was convicted of one felony count of accessory and several misdemeanor evidence-related counts for helping with the cover-up.
- Investigators recovered nine bodies and identified two pets that had been cremated, and necropsies on nine dogs showed eight died of heat stroke and one suffered blunt force trauma.
- Prosecutors say the dogs died after being kept in small crates in a hot van in June 2025 and that Sit impersonated owners to arrange cremations while Liu helped drop off remains at different crematoriums.
- Both defendants remain jailed on high bail, were ordered to surrender passports and avoid animals and victims’ families, and face statutory maximums of about 13 years, 11 months for Sit and up to four years for Liu.
