Overview
- Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya central military headquarters warned it will answer with force if the U.S. keeps what it calls a blockade, piracy, and maritime robbery in Gulf waters.
- The command said Iranian forces now have greater strength and readiness and claimed management and control of the Strait of Hormuz, a narrow waterway that carries much of the world’s oil.
- Iranian state media also reported that officials view U.S. interdictions and mine-clearing efforts as unlawful and as breaches of a ceasefire declared on April 8.
- President Masoud Pezeshkian said the blockade and what he called U.S. breaches of commitments are blocking efforts to restart talks with Washington to end the war.
- Khatam al-Anbiya, which coordinates the regular army and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, said it is monitoring enemy movements and vowed heavier losses for U.S. and Israeli forces if they strike again.
