Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Claims Strike on Amazon Cloud Site in Bahrain

The claims mark a shift toward attacks on Western corporate cloud infrastructure, raising new risks for Gulf security.

Overview

  • Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said it attacked and destroyed an Amazon cloud data center in Bahrain in what it called its first action against such companies.
  • The force also said it struck seven U.S. and Israeli bases in the region, framing the attacks as retaliation for the killings of Iranian officials.
  • The Guard earlier published a list of about 18 target companies, naming firms such as Microsoft, Apple, Google, Meta, Boeing, Tesla, HP, Intel, and IBM after a stated deadline to begin hitting U.S. businesses passed.
  • IRGC statements warned of harsher attacks on the listed firms next and said President Donald Trump would be responsible for any destruction of those companies in the region.
  • The claims were carried by Iranian outlet Mehr and reported by Europa Press and El Comercio, and there was no independent confirmation, which leaves key details unverified even as the threats raise concern for Gulf infrastructure and corporate operations.
