Ipswich have confirmed 21-year-old winger Tudor Mendel has joined League One Luton Town on loan until January with the Hatters able to extend the spell if he performs.
Mendel signed a new two-year contract with Ipswich that runs to summer 2028 and includes a club option for a further season to protect the club’s long-term interest.
The loan follows Mendel’s senior debut in Ipswich’s recent Carabao Cup win over Leicester and comes after outside interest increased in the former Anderlecht and Chelsea academy player.
Luton manager Jack Wilshere praised Mendel’s pace, versatility and fit with Luton’s attacking possession style and said the club can keep him beyond January if he helps the team.
Ipswich completed other deadline-window moves with Cameron Humphreys returning to Huddersfield and Chieo Ogbene close to Lincoln City, while several other potential loans looked unlikely to be finalised before the deadline.
