Ipsos Poll Finds Mario Vizcarra Down to 3% as Electoral Rulings Threaten His Bid

His slide coincides with rulings deeming him ineligible over a peculado conviction, with the JNE now set to determine his final status.

Overview

  • Ipsos’s January 7–8 national survey places Mario Vizcarra at 3% and sixth place, down from an October peak of 8%.
  • Rafael López Aliaga leads with 10%, followed by Keiko Fujimori at 7% and Carlos Álvarez at 4%, with George Forsyth and Alfonso López Chau at 3% each.
  • Special electoral juries in Lima Centro 1 and 2 declared Vizcarra’s candidacy inadmissible due to a firm peculado conviction, which election law treats as an insurmountable barrier.
  • Ipsos asked where Vizcarra’s backing would go if he is excluded, and respondents most often named George Forsyth, César Acuña, José Luna Gálvez, José Williams and Roberto Sánchez.
  • Forsyth has gained ground without a formal campaign launch, while César Acuña slipped to 2% compared with late December.
