Overview
- Following Tuesday’s Bloomberg report, multiple outlets said Apple will add an Apple Intelligence Tools section to the Photos editor on iOS 27, iPadOS 27 and macOS 27.
- The new menu would group the existing Clean Up tool with three options: Extend to generate content beyond a photo’s edges, Enhance to auto-tune color and lighting, and Reframe to change perspective on spatial photos.
- Processing is expected to run entirely on the device, which keeps images off remote servers and produces edits in a few seconds.
- Internal testing has found Extend and Reframe unreliable, and reporters say Apple could delay or scale back those features ahead of a WWDC preview on June 8.
- The overhaul is part of Apple’s broader Apple Intelligence push, including a revamped Siri, and it aims to reduce reliance on third-party editors that already offer similar tools from Google and Samsung.
