- The Independent Office for Police Conduct has told two Hampshire officers they are under investigation for potential gross misconduct over their actions at the scene of Henry Nowak’s fatal stabbing.
- Body-worn footage showed Nowak being handcuffed as he pleaded that he had been stabbed and could not breathe, a sequence from the December 3, 2025 incident that sparked public outrage.
- The IOPC is examining alleged failures to give urgent medical care, the decision to arrest rather than treat Nowak, and an instance where an officer appeared to dismiss his claim of being stabbed.
- Investigators are also probing whether race or religion influenced officers’ decisions and whether Henry was treated differently from the suspect, Vickrum Digwa, who was not handcuffed in custody.
- The watchdog has met Nowak’s family and expanded its review after formal complaints and cautioned that serving gross misconduct notices does not mean officers will automatically face disciplinary hearings.
