Invermet Rescinds Contract for Campo de Marte Rehabilitation

The fund cited low progress and delays and has opened legal steps, launched a re‑tender process and arranged for urgent park maintenance by Jesús María

Overview

  • Invermet announced this week that it rescinded the contract with Consorcio Ejecutor DISAMART after inspectors and local authorities found roughly 30 percent progress and persistent delays.
  • The fund said it will initiate legal actions against those responsible and notify environmental oversight bodies to determine accountability for negligence in park works and green‑area mitigation.
  • Invermet has begun immediate procedures to convene a new contractor to finish the remaining work while coordinating emergency irrigation, control and maintenance with the Municipalidad de Jesús María.
  • The mayor of Jesús María expects the district to assume park administration, to evaluate more than 2,300 trees for recovery or replacement, and to aim for project completion around mid‑September.
  • The rehabilitation started in November and includes new paths, bike lanes, lighting, CCTV and bathrooms and was intended to benefit over 134,000 residents, while neighbor reports of dry areas and damaged plants pushed media and officials to act.
