Overview
- Intel confirmed on Monday that it has begun a €5 billion capital programme at its Leixlip, Co Kildare, campus focused on upgrading fabs and installing new manufacturing equipment.
- The work uses existing cleanroom space and will expand automation across the campus to link production modules into a single, higher‑velocity manufacturing flow.
- Intel says the programme will create several hundred permanent high‑tech jobs and thousands of construction and specialist‑trade roles during equipment installation.
- The investment is targeted to raise output of Intel 3 wafers to supply Xeon 6 and next‑generation Xeon processors and to provide capacity for Intel Foundry customers.
- Intel plans to spend most of the money by the end of 2027, notes execution risks such as scheduling, labour and supply availability, and is building on more than €30 billion invested in Ireland since 1989 including a $14.2 billion repurchase of a 49% stake in the Leixlip joint venture earlier this year.
