INPS Corrects IT Error After 270,000 Pension CUs Omitted Local Tax Withholdings

The institute says it has reissued corrected Certificazioni Uniche to the tax agency to prevent errors in prefilled 730 returns.

Overview

  • An INPS IT malfunction caused regional and municipal IRPEF addizionali withheld from 2025 pensions to be left out of many Certificazioni Uniche used to build the 730 precompilato, a problem reported to affect about 270,000 pension-related positions.
  • INPS says it has fixed the software fault, sent updated CUs to the Agenzia delle Entrate and uploaded corrected documents to its portal, and that most omitted amounts are very small, generally under €12.
  • Omitted withholdings in the CU can make the prefilled 730 incorrect and may trigger delayed refunds, later conguagli or the need for integrative declarations, with heirs handling deceased pensioners’ positions especially exposed to mistakes.
  • Taxpayers and intermediaries are advised to check the CU against 2025 pension payslips before submitting a 730, and people who already filed should watch for data updates and follow any guidance from INPS or their CAF.
  • The error highlights pressure on CAF and patronati during the declaration season and the risks of data gaps in public tax systems, though the small size of most omitted amounts limits likely enforced recovery in many cases.
