Ingram Wins BTCC Opener as Doble and Sutton Complete Podium

A puncture followed by a track-limits penalty reordered the early BTCC standings.

Overview

  • Reigning champion Tom Ingram led from the start to win the British Touring Car Championship season opener at Donington Park.
  • He beat polesitter Dan Rowbottom off the line from the outside of row one and managed his medium tyres and limited turbo boost laps to stay clear.
  • A left-rear puncture ended Josh Cook’s chase at the chicane and brought out a brief safety car.
  • Mikey Doble moved his Power Maxed Racing Audi into second after the restart, while Ash Sutton charged from last to third and set the fastest lap.
  • Rowbottom received a 10-second track-limits penalty that dropped him down the order, promoting Adam Morgan to fourth with Charles Rainford, Dan Cammish, Gordon Shedden, Aiden Moffat, Dexter Patterson and Aron Taylor-Smith completing the top ten.
