Overview
- Infinity Ward unveiled the revamped DMZ on Saturday, June 6, confirming it will ship with Modern Warfare 4 on October 23, 2026 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2.
- DMZ sits on a new, much larger map called Hajin that spans biomes inspired by South Korea, North Korea and parts of Russia and features dynamic weather, AI patrols, convoys and evolving match conditions.
- Matches run three play styles in the same world — narrative Story Missions, randomized Dynamic Operations, and open Free Roam — so PvE objectives and player-vs-player encounters can collide in every game.
- Players get a persistent Forward Operating Base and stash with vendors, a gunsmith and a 3D printer crafting station, plus recovery tools such as Rescue Packs and an M.I.A. buyback system that use only in‑game currency to avoid pay‑to‑win concerns.
- The redesign adds solo support, squad‑size matchmaking, self‑revive and stealth tools, and a player‑driven bounty and leaderboard economy, and it reflects Infinity Ward’s effort to deepen the mode after criticism that the original DMZ felt shallow.
