IndiGo Opens Hiring for Experienced A320 Pilots as It Overhauls Allowances From Jan. 1

The carrier is racing to meet tougher fatigue rules by February following a DGCA order to trim its winter schedule.

Overview

  • IndiGo has begun accepting applications for Captains and Senior First Officers for its A320 fleet, seeking Airbus-rated pilots with valid ATPLs and recent hours.
  • From Jan. 1, pilot pay items are reworked: domestic layover rises to ₹3,000 for captains and ₹1,500 for first officers, with deadhead at ₹4,000 and ₹2,000 per scheduled block hour.
  • Night duty moves to fixed rates of ₹2,000 per night hour for captains and ₹1,000 for first officers, with a new tail-swap allowance of ₹1,500 and ₹750 per occurrence.
  • Domestic transit pay shifts to an hourly model for halts beyond 90 minutes, and sources say the changes restore only about a quarter of allowances cut after the latest FDTL phase.
  • The staffing and pay moves follow thousands of early-December cancellations and a regulator-mandated 10% winter schedule reduction, with IndiGo targeting at least 158 new pilots by February to meet FDTL compliance.
