Overview

  • PIB Fact Check confirmed a viral video of General Upendra Dwivedi is an AI-generated deepfake and said he made no such remarks.
  • The agency posted the unedited Raisina Dialogue 2026 footage from March 7 to show the source material that was altered.
  • Independent tests cited by The Quint, including Hive Moderation and DeepFake-O-Meter, flagged the clip with very high probabilities of manipulation, topping 99 percent on some detectors.
  • PIB also dismissed separate viral posts alleging Defence Minister Rajnath Singh ordered Indian Navy action and that the Navy chief plans to resign, naming the X handle @Proudindiannavi as a peddler of the claims.
