Overview
- Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan arrived in Colombo on Sunday for a two-day trip, his first foreign visit since taking office.
- He met President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and discussed India-backed housing, a humanitarian approach to fishermen disputes, and the USD 450 million Cyclone Ditwah recovery program.
- Sri Lanka’s Foreign Ministry said several memoranda of understanding are slated for exchange to expand cooperation, including projects tied to cyclone rehabilitation.
- He will address an Indian community event in Colombo and virtually hand over houses built for Tamil families under the Indian Housing Project, taking the total to 50,000 with 10,000 more underway.
- On Monday he will travel to Nuwara Eliya to visit project sites and meet Indian‑origin Tamils, a community that makes up about 7% of Sri Lanka’s population.
