Indian Railways Marks Women’s Day With All‑Women Train Operations Across Multiple Divisions

Officials cast the coordinated runs as a step toward wider integration of women across rail operations.

  • South Eastern Railway’s Ranchi–Irgaon passenger service ran with women in every onboard role, including loco crew, ticketing and RPF, with Irgaon station also managed by women.

  • WCR’s Bhopal–Bilaspur Express (18235) was crewed entirely by women, with officials naming the loco pilot, assistant loco pilot, train manager and ticket examiners and formally flagging off the run.
  • Central Railway’s Bhusawal Division handed over the Bhusawal–Katni Express (19013) to an all‑women team, including named loco crew, a women ticket‑checking squad and RPF security for the journey toward Khandwa.
  • Railway statements highlighted women handling broader station and maintenance work in Gorakhpur—laundry operations, coach examinations and bio‑toilet testing—and noted Lucknow City station has been fully women‑run since October 2025.
