Indian Railways Expands Holi Services Past 1,410 Trains as Zone-Wise Plans Roll Out

Phased IRCTC bookings will open, with additions tied to real-time demand.

Overview

  • Railways confirms a base of more than 1,410 Holi special services in March, with capacity to approach 1,500, a roughly 25% rise on 2025.
  • Western Railway has notified 231 trains for March 1–22 and is rolling out holding areas, extra RPF/GRP staff and CCTV monitoring at major stations.
  • North Central Railway has issued 204 trips, including five originating pairs from Prayagraj, Subedarganj, Kanpur and Jhansi running February 15 to March 31.
  • Zone-wise deployment places East Central at 285 trains, followed by Western at 231 and Central at 209, with further additions possible based on bookings.
  • Reservations will open soon on IRCTC, with train details also on the NTES app, and NFR is preparing a few weekly services from Assam, West Bengal and Bihar toward North India.
