Indian Police Expose Mule-Account Rings in MP and Telangana, Make 29 Arrests

Investigators describe networks that laundered cybercrime proceeds through ordinary citizens’ bank credentials.

  • In Narsinghpur, Madhya Pradesh, police identified about 180 mule accounts that moved nearly Rs 15 crore linked to online gaming, sextortion and other cyber frauds.
  • Seventeen suspects were arrested in the MP probe, with over 35 accounts frozen and nine passbooks, four ATM cards and nine mobile phones seized.
  • Authorities in Narsinghpur said roughly Rs 45 lakh is currently on hold and about Rs 53 lakh has been returned to victims’ accounts.
  • Karimnagar police in Telangana arrested 12 people under 'Operation Crackdown', naming 22-year-old Mudugunti Rajeshwar Reddy as the alleged kingpin and seizing bank kits and digital evidence.
  • Police in both districts said investigations continue, reported links to multiple cybercrime cases, warned against sharing bank details and instructed banks to block suspicious transactions.
