- The ship was built by GRSE in Kolkata under Directorate of Ship Production and Warship Overseeing Team supervision with extensive MSME participation.
- Its primary mission is hydrographic surveying, with a dual-role configuration for Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief and hospital-ship duties during emergencies.
- Ikshak is the first SVL ship with dedicated accommodation for women, and its name means “The Guide,” reflecting its navigational mission.
