Indian National Charged Over Fatal Southall Stabbing

Detectives say CCTV and local information helped identify a suspect who remains in custody ahead of further court hearings.

  • A 26-year-old man, identified as Gurbhej Singh, was found with a fatal stab wound on North Road in Southall in the early hours of June 10 and was pronounced dead at the scene despite paramedic treatment.
  • Police arrested a 20-year-old in Southall on June 16 and Westminster magistrates’ court charged him with murder, the wounding of a second man, and knife possession; he was remanded to appear at the Old Bailey on June 22.
  • Officers initially detained seven men at the scene; six have been released with no further action and one person remains on police bail while enquiries continue.
  • A second man in his 30s suffered injuries in the incident, was taken to hospital and has since been discharged, and specialist officers are supporting the victim’s family.
