Overview
- The Defence Ministry issued the RFP on February 6 for 30 improved Low-Level Lightweight Radars and two classroom variants, an estimated Rs 725 crore purchase under the Fast Track Procurement route.
- The man-portable 3D AESA radars are specified for 360-degree coverage, detection out to about 50 km, simultaneous tracking of more than 100 targets, deployment in under 10 minutes, and operation from plains to high-altitude areas.
- Systems must integrate with the Akashteer command-and-reporting architecture and connect securely to the Army Data Network, with capability to assign at least 20 tracks to 10 command posts or weapon systems up to 20 km away.
- Bidding is restricted to Indian OEMs or authorised vendors under the Buy (Indian) category, with a minimum 60% indigenous content requirement.
- Delivery terms call for 15 radars and one Command and Reporting Vehicle within 12 months of advance payment and the remainder over the next six months, with no-cost field trials, a Rs 2 crore EMD and a Pre-Contract Integrity Pact mandated.
