India to Roll Out Low-Cost Udan Yatri Cafes Nationwide After Vijayawada Launch

The move prioritizes affordable services for new flyers, aligning with UDAN expansion plus a near-term upgrade at Vijayawada.

Overview

  • Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu opened the Udan Yatri Cafe at Vijayawada and confirmed a phased plan to install these outlets across airports nationwide.
  • Vijayawada becomes the seventh location after Kolkata, Pune, Chennai, Bhubaneswar, Ahmedabad and Hollongi/Itanagar to host the initiative.
  • Menu prices are set at ₹10 for tea and ₹20 for coffee, snacks and sweets to address complaints about high airport food costs.
  • The New Integrated Terminal Building at Vijayawada is expected to be finished in about three months, which will increase passenger-handling capacity.
  • The minister said a Singapore flight from Vijayawada will start soon, with new domestic links to Ahmedabad, Varanasi and Pune, as UDAN has added more than 630 routes since 2016.
