Overview
- Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu opened the Udan Yatri Cafe at Vijayawada and confirmed a phased plan to install these outlets across airports nationwide.
- Vijayawada becomes the seventh location after Kolkata, Pune, Chennai, Bhubaneswar, Ahmedabad and Hollongi/Itanagar to host the initiative.
- Menu prices are set at ₹10 for tea and ₹20 for coffee, snacks and sweets to address complaints about high airport food costs.
- The New Integrated Terminal Building at Vijayawada is expected to be finished in about three months, which will increase passenger-handling capacity.
- The minister said a Singapore flight from Vijayawada will start soon, with new domestic links to Ahmedabad, Varanasi and Pune, as UDAN has added more than 630 routes since 2016.
