India to Receive Remaining Army Apaches as Navy Commissions Second MH-60R Squadron

Overview

  • Defence officials say three AH-64s will arrive within days, completing the Army’s six-helicopter order signed in February 2020.
  • The Army’s Apache squadron is based at Jodhpur to support operations on the western front facing Pakistan.
  • Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi will commission the second MH-60R squadron at INS Hansa in Goa on December 17.
  • The US has delivered 15 of 24 Seahawks under a Rs 15,157 crore deal, with a follow-on support and spares pact of Rs 7,955 crore signed last month.
  • HAL is slated to deliver 156 Prachand LCHs between 2028 and 2033 after earlier program delays, and the services plan to add over 1,000 helicopters in the next 10–15 years.
