Overview
- The two AI‑enabled forecast products, launched Tuesday by Union minister Jitendra Singh, mark India’s first operational use of AI for monsoon guidance.
- The monsoon advance system will issue probabilistic updates every Wednesday up to four weeks for 3,196 blocks across 15 states and one Union Territory.
- The Uttar Pradesh pilot will provide 1‑kilometre rainfall forecasts up to 10 days using AI downscaling fed by rain gauges, weather stations, Doppler radars and satellites.
- Outputs will reach farmers via Agriculture Ministry APIs, AgriStack, mobile alerts, WhatsApp, portals and market display boards to guide sowing, irrigation and harvest timing.
