India Reports Gulf Seafarers Safe as 15 Flagged Ships Remain Stranded

  • India’s shipping ministry, which issued an update Tuesday, said all Indian seafarers in the Gulf are safe with no incidents involving Indian-flagged ships in the past 24 hours.
  • Officials disclosed Monday that at least 15 Indian-flagged vessels are stranded in the Strait of Hormuz, with plans to bring them back when conditions allow.
  • DG Shipping has repatriated more than 2,262 Indian seafarers from the region and its control room has handled 6,292 calls and 13,228 emails since activation, including 219 calls and 361 emails in the past day.
  • Ports across India report normal operations with no congestion as western coast terminals processed 3,383 TEUs and cleared 3,228 for return, where a TEU is a standard 20‑foot shipping container.
  • The LPG carrier Jag Vikram crossed the Strait of Hormuz on April 11 with 24 crew and about 20,400 tonnes of cargo and was slated to reach Kandla on Tuesday.
