India Reports 9.27 Lakh Returns From West Asia as Flights Reroute

Officials say flexible routing now keeps travel moving despite partial airspace closures.

Overview

  • India’s foreign ministry said 9,27,000 people have returned from West Asia since February 28.
  • Officials expect about 100 flights from the UAE to operate, with services also running from Saudi Arabia and Oman and 8–10 Qatar Airways flights as Qatar’s airspace allows limited traffic.
  • The MEA said Israeli airspace is partially open and Iraq’s is open, while Kuwait remains closed, so carriers are routing passengers through Saudi Arabia’s Dammam airport.
  • From Iran, the Indian embassy has moved 2,230 nationals to Armenia and Azerbaijan for onward travel, including 987 students and 657 fishermen.
  • Shipping authorities reported 2,084 seafarers repatriated, Indian ports operating normally, and 24×7 consular and maritime helplines supporting travel and crew welfare.
