India Rebukes Pakistan at UNHRC Over Kashmir With 'La‑La Land' Jibe

Using a Right of Reply on February 25, India countered Islamabad’s claims by stressing J&K’s development and elections and by framing its sovereignty position as settled in law.

Overview

  • First Secretary Anupama Singh dismissed Pakistan’s remarks as “incessant propaganda” and said the OIC had reduced itself to an echo chamber for one member state.
  • India reiterated that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral and inalienable part of India, calling the 1947 accession legal and irrevocable under the Indian Independence Act and international law.
  • New Delhi urged Islamabad to vacate areas it describes as under Pakistan’s forcible or illegal occupation, saying that is the only outstanding issue regarding the region.
  • Citing development and participation, India pointed to the Chenab Rail Bridge and what it called record voter turnout in recent general and assembly elections in J&K.
  • Singh contrasted J&K’s development budget with Pakistan’s recent IMF bailout, accused Pakistan of state‑sponsored terrorism, and noted the UNHRC session continues in Geneva through March 31.
