Overview
- The Ministry of Civil Aviation and Delhi International Airport Limited launched Air Suvidha 2.0 on June 25, and the government has made completion of the online Self‑Declaration Form mandatory for every international passenger arriving in India.
- The form asks travellers to report their 21‑day travel history, any exposure to affected areas and any symptoms and must be completed within 24 hours before travel with a downloaded copy shown on arrival.
- Submitted data are routed in real time to the Airport Health Officer, the Bureau of Immigration, the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme and state surveillance officers so authorities can quickly identify and refer at‑risk passengers for secondary screening.
- Air Suvidha 2.0 is fully contactless and replaces paper arrival forms to reduce physical contact at points of entry and to speed processing for the majority of travellers.
- The upgrade follows WHO's May 17 PHEIC declaration for the Ebola/Bundibugyo outbreak, complements India's recent US$10 million preparedness pledge, and means travellers from or transiting through high‑risk neighbours such as South Sudan, DRC or Uganda should expect enhanced checks on arrival.
