India Hatchback Sales Up 8.9% in November as Maruti Suzuki Takes 72% Share

Budget models powered the growth, with premium hatchbacks under pressure.

  • Total hatchback dispatches reached 88,781 units in November 2025, up 8.87% year on year but down 6.73% from October’s festive-boosted base.
  • Maruti Suzuki Swift led the segment with 19,733 units, rising 33.9% year on year and 26.9% month on month.
  • WagonR ranked second at 14,619 units with modest annual growth, while Baleno was third at 13,784 units after a 15.4% year-on-year decline.
  • Entry-level demand lifted Alto to 10,600 units, up 42% year on year and 70.7% month on month; Tata’s Tiago hit 5,988 units (+12.6% YoY) and Altroz 3,013 (+44.7% YoY), with Toyota Glanza at 5,032 (+32.2% YoY).
  • Hyundai’s Grand i10 Nios and i20 posted annual declines, while EV and niche hatchbacks were uneven, with MG Comet at 897 units (+49.5% YoY), Citroen C3 at 861 (+330.5% YoY) and eC3 at 16.
