Overview
- BrahMos Aerospace and Solar Defence and Aerospace Ltd flagged off the 100th indigenously manufactured propulsion booster and dispatched the first domestically made BrahMos warhead to the Terminal Ballistics Research Laboratory for trials on Thursday.
- Solar Industries says it scaled booster production from about one per month to roughly 60 per month and reports an annual capacity near 150 boosters, with plans to expand capacity further.
- BrahMos chief Jaiteerth Joshi said export negotiations with Vietnam are in the final stages and require only a few clearances before a deal can be finalised.
- Joshi also reported that Russia has expressed interest in inducting BrahMos and is in talks with India about increasing production and possibly sourcing missiles from Indian industry to meet demand.
- The indigenous boosters and pending warhead approval build on a 2018 technology transfer and on the missile’s reported operational use in Operation Sindoor, a combination that programme officials say boosts credibility for further exports.
