India and Uzbekistan Launch 7th ‘Dustlik’ Military Exercise in Namangan

The yearly, company-level training builds interoperability for joint missions in semi-mountainous terrain.

Overview

  • The two militaries, which opened the seventh Dustlik exercise Sunday, will train through April 25 at the Gurumsaray Field Training Area in Namangan.
  • India sent 60 personnel, with 45 from an Army battalion of the Mahar Regiment and 15 from the Air Force, while Uzbekistan fielded about 60 from its Army and Air Force.
  • Training aims to build a shared command method for joint planning and execution to improve how the units operate together.
  • Drills cover land navigation, strike missions on enemy bases, seizure of held areas, and fitness work suited to semi-mountain terrain.
  • A 48-hour validation at the end will test joint special operations designed to neutralise unlawful armed groups.
