India and South Korea Map 2026 Push to Deepen Ties at Seoul Talks
A slate of ministerial engagements with technology cooperation targets USD 50 billion in trade by 2030.
Overview
- The 6th Foreign Policy and Security Dialogue in Seoul was co-chaired by India’s Secretary (East) P. Kumaran and ROK First Vice Foreign Minister Park Yoon-joo during Kumaran’s February 12–13 visit.
- Both sides scheduled regular high-level interactions in 2026, including a Foreign Ministers-led Joint Commission Meeting, a vice-minister/secretary-level 2+2 dialogue, and a visit by the ROK Deputy PM and Science and ICT Minister for the AI Impact Summit.
- Bilateral trade stood at about USD 28 billion, with steps agreed to advance the shared vision of reaching USD 50 billion by 2030.
- Talks prioritized economic security and resilient supply chains alongside cooperation in artificial intelligence, semiconductors, green hydrogen and critical minerals.
- India outlined opportunities for Korean firms in shipbuilding and maritime sectors, and officials also exchanged views on the Korean Peninsula and the Indo-Pacific as Kumaran met Foreign Minister Cho Hyun and other senior officials.
