IMSS Sets Mid-March Start for Mandatory e.firma in Employer Online Filings

The change aims to cut paperwork, reduce errors and speed processing.

Overview

  • The mandate takes effect 15 business days after publication in the federal gazette, with activation expected around March 10.
  • Online procedures covered include employer registration, assignment or cancellation of the Single Employer Registry, issuance of NPIE and digital certificates, and worker movement notices.
  • For in-person procedures, biometric CURP will serve as identification, while a valid photo ID remains acceptable during its national rollout.
  • Operational rules set RPU assignment in up to five business days, or up to ten for batches over 30, immediate cancellation, and digital certificates valid for two years.
  • Requests initiated before the effective date may finish without e.firma, and employers are advised to verify or renew their digital signature as IMSS deploys a hybrid process model.
