IMSS Night Clinics Pilot Continues in Quintana Roo Under ‘2-30-100’ Strategy

Designed for shift and tourism workers, the pilot will be evaluated in 2025 to guide any expansion.

Overview

  • The pilot began on May 2, 2024 and has delivered about 4,873 nighttime family‑medicine consultations to date, according to IMSS figures.
  • Service is currently offered at UMF No. 11 in Playa del Carmen with hours Monday to Friday from 21:00 to 02:00.
  • Appointments are booked in person or by phone at the participating clinic, and some daytime slots may be reassigned to the night shift when capacity allows.
  • IMSS frames the initiative within its national ‘2-30-100’ plan to expand coverage and optimize capacity across family care, specialty visits, and scheduled surgeries.
  • Officials say potential expansion to Cancún, Cozumel, and Chetumal—and later to other states—will depend on demand and the results of the 2025 evaluation.
