Overview
- The India Meteorological Department issued orange alerts for Idukki, Ernakulam, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod and yellow alerts for several other districts, signaling very heavy and heavy rainfall respectively.
- The Kerala State Disaster Management Authority published date-specific orange warnings for Kannur and Kasaragod on June 29, for Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod on June 30, and again for Kannur and Kasaragod on July 1.
- The IMD warned of isolated thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds of 40–50 km/h gusting up to 60 km/h through July 2 and advised fishermen to avoid the Kerala coast, Lakshadweep area and adjoining Arabian Sea until July 3 because of rough seas.
- KSDMA has activated round-the-clock district and taluk control rooms, issued emergency numbers 1077 and 1070 for assistance, and urged people in landslide-, mudslide- and flash-flood-prone zones to move to safer ground if asked by authorities.
- Northern and highland districts face elevated landslide and flash-flood risk that can damage homes, cut roads and harm crops, and the IMD’s agromet guidance asks farmers to improve drainage, stake plantain and delay rice transplanting while heavy rain continues.
