Illinois Lands $1.5 Billion CSL Plasma-Therapy Plant in Kankakee County

CSL plans to deploy its Horizon 2 process to raise immunoglobulin yields at a fully U.S.-based site by 2031.

Overview

  • Gov. J.B. Pritzker announced CSL’s $1.5 billion manufacturing expansion in Kankakee County to grow output of Privigen and Hizentra.
  • The project is expected to retain more than 1,200 jobs and create at least 300 new full-time positions at the campus.
  • Pritzker said the facility would move CSL’s full process from plasma collection to filling and packing into the United States, with Illinois supplying 100% of its immunoglobulin therapies.
  • CSL targets a 2031 start of operations using its patented Horizon 2 technology, designed to extract more immunoglobulin from the same amount of donated plasma.
  • The governor’s office said a state tax incentive agreement is still being finalized after questions about more than $200 million in credits over time.
