Overview
- IKEA U.S., which announced the plan Thursday, will open a 54,000-square-foot store at Prairie Towne Center in Madison this fall as the company’s second Wisconsin location.
- The Madison site fits IKEA’s 2026 move into smaller stores announced in March and it is far smaller than the nearly 300,000-square-foot Oak Creek store.
- The store will display more than 5,000 items, with about 3,000 available to take home, while larger pieces can be ordered for home delivery or free local pickup.
- Planned features include a central design area for kitchen, bedroom, and bath planning, a small As‑Is section with discounted items, and a Swedish Deli with IKEA food staples.
- Until doors open, Madison shoppers can pick up online orders at two University Book Store sites on State Street and along the Beltline.
