Overview
- The 15th convocation at IITH in Kandi, Sangareddy on Saturday awarded degrees to a record 1,398 graduates across BTech, MTech, PhD, MSc, MDes, BDes, MA, MS and diploma programmes.
- The institute presented five gold medals and 44 silver medals and awarded the President of India Gold Medal for highest BTech CGPA to Bonthu Mani Hemanth Reddy from computer science and engineering.
- The ceremony marked first graduations for the BTech in IC Design & Technology and the inaugural joint doctoral cohort with Deakin University, signalling expansion of new academic pathways.
- Director B.S. Murty used the annual report to announce new programmes in critical minerals, defence technology, photonics, industrial metallurgy and AI-related engineering fields and to highlight rising subject rankings and global collaborations.
- The convocation combined technical messaging with cultural branding — chief guest Dr. Padma Subrahmanyam urged blending modern science with India’s civilisational wisdom, students wore handwoven Pochampally sarees, and the institute unveiled a Sanskrit motto translating to 'nation building through innovation' — steps that may strengthen IITH’s industry links and startup ecosystem.
