IIT Bombay Placements See Higher Pay and Lower Hiring in 2024–25

The institute's report signals a tighter job market with richer pay for fewer roles.

  • IIT Bombay, which published its annual placement report Tuesday, reported a 70% placement rate for students who took part.
  • A total of 1,422 offers were accepted, including 65 international roles across Japan, Taiwan, Europe, the Middle East, Southeast Asia and the United States.
  • Average pay reached Rs 26.45 lakh and the median hit Rs 20 lakh, both rising by more than 10% from last year.
  • High-paying roles expanded, with 705 offers above Rs 20 lakh and 150 companies hiring at that level.
  • PhD placements slipped to 28 as more doctoral graduates chose postdoctoral fellowships or launched startups.
