Overview
- Industrial Electric Mfg. announced Tuesday it will invest $200 million to build a 1 million-square-foot advanced manufacturing facility at Brooks on San Antonio’s South Side.
- IEM said the plant targets up to 3,000 jobs by 2030 with roles in manufacturing, engineering, logistics, and corporate support while construction and hiring will be rolled out in phases.
- The state offered a $3.36 million Texas Enterprise Fund grant that is tied to the creation of 448 jobs and will be paid only if those hiring conditions are met.
- Company-provided wage figures show a base hourly rate of $18.27, an average salary of about $53,073, and that 90% of workers would earn above $21.34 an hour, which frames local income impacts.
- The facility will make engineered power distribution and control systems for energy-intensive customers such as data centers, health care providers, and energy firms, and the move places a major supplier closer to Texas’s large data-center market.
