IED Blasts During Anti-Maoist Operations Injure CRPF Troops in Jharkhand and Telangana
Officials attribute the explosives to CPI (Maoists) during ongoing demining operations.
Overview
- In Jharkhand’s Saranda forest, two personnel from the CRPF’s 209 CoBRA battalion were injured during a search near Chadri Dera, West Singhbhum SP Amit Renu said.
- The injured CoBRA jawans were evacuated from the forest and airlifted to Ranchi for advanced care, with one reported in serious condition.
- In Telangana’s Pamunur/Jella area of Mulugu district, an IED or landmine detonated during combing or demining, wounding a CRPF jawan who was flown to Venkatapuram and then shifted to Warangal.
- Security forces intensified combing and demining across the Telangana–Chhattisgarh border and in Saranda, supported by joint deployments and forward operating bases.
- Police said the devices were planted by the banned CPI (Maoists), while local claims of Maoist fatalities near Karregutta were disputed by senior officers.
