Overview
- The IDF said a female soldier from the mixed-gender Bardalas Battalion was found injured at a southern base, evacuated to hospital and later pronounced dead, and that her family has been notified.
- The Military Police Criminal Investigation Division has opened a probe into the Bardalas soldier's death and will forward its findings to the Military Advocate General's Office when complete.
- Earlier this week a second female soldier serving in a classified role in the Intelligence Directorate died by suicide at the Glilot base near Ramat Hasharon.
- Reporting cited by the IDF and Haaretz shows suicides among active-duty personnel rose after the October 7, 2023 attack, with seven deaths to the end of 2023, 21 in 2024, 22 in 2025 and at least 16 active-duty deaths so far this year.
- The cluster of recent deaths is likely to increase scrutiny of the military's mental-health support for soldiers and could lead to reviews of medical, psychological and post-deployment care for active-duty troops and reservists.
