Overview
- The ICC announced on Wednesday that the six-team T20I tournament will be played in Mumbai and Vadodara from 14 to 28 February 2027.
- Mumbai’s Cricket Club of India (Brabourne) and the Vadodara International Cricket Stadium were confirmed as the two venues for all matches.
- Sri Lanka lost hosting rights because its board is run by a government-appointed Transformation Committee, a form of political control the ICC does not recognise.
- Australia, England, India, New Zealand, South Africa and Sri Lanka keep their places after qualifying on the ICC Women’s T20I rankings at the 6 July cut-off, with a round-robin league and a final on 28 February.
- The move is expected to hit Sri Lanka Cricket’s finances, with one report estimating about US$20 million in lost revenue, and the ICC says SLC must hold elections and complete reforms before regaining full board representation.
