Ian Poveda Gets Six-Month Driving Ban for 100mph Speeding

Magistrates applied the UK points “totting-up” rule after adding six points to his licence.

Overview

  • North Tyneside Magistrates' Court banned the 26-year-old from driving for six months and fined him £800 with a £320 surcharge and £600 costs after he admitted the offence.
  • Prosecutors said a police officer saw his black Range Rover at about 100mph in a 70mph zone on the A184 in South Tyneside on February 23, 2025.
  • The case went ahead without Poveda, who did not attend the hearing.
  • Court records noted prior speeding offences on his licence and reported a previous ban for driving while disqualified during an earlier spell in England.
  • Under the totting-up system, drivers who reach 12 or more points face an automatic disqualification, which is why the added six points triggered his ban.
