IAF Pilot Purvesh Duragkar Cremated With Military Honours in Nagpur After Su-30MKI Crash

• Flight Lieutenant Purvesh Duragkar was laid to rest at Manewada Ghat in Nagpur with a ceremonial gun salute and military rites on Saturday.
• The Sukhoi Su-30MKI went down in Assam’s Karbi Anglong district after taking off from Jorhat on a routine training sortie and disappearing from radar.
• The Indian Air Force identified the deceased as Squadron Leader Anuj and Flight Lieutenant Duragkar and issued a statement of condolence.
• A multi-agency overnight search by the IAF, Army and paramilitary forces located the wreckage and recovered human remains at the crash site.
• Duragkar’s remains were flown to New Delhi for tributes before being transported to Nagpur, where Union minister Nitin Gadkari visited his family on Sunday to pay respects.
