I-T Department Activates 24x7 Control Rooms in Mumbai and Pune for Civic Poll Monitoring

Overview

• The Mumbai unit is taking reports of cash or valuables used for electioneering via WhatsApp, text or calls at 7738113758 and by email at mumbai.addldit.inv8@incometax.gov.in.
• A Pune control room is operational with a toll-free line at 1800-233-0701, WhatsApp at 9922380806 and email at pune.pdit.inv@incometax.gov.in.
• Both facilities form part of the Income Tax Department’s election surveillance mechanism and will run for the full duration of the MCC.
• Monitoring covers multiple municipal corporations across Maharashtra, including Thane, Ulhasnagar, Kalyan-Dombivli, Bhiwandi-Nizampur, Mira-Bhayandar, Vasai-Virar, Panvel, Ahilyanagar, Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Solapur, Kolhapur, Ichalkaranji and Sangli-Miraj-Kupwad.
• The push follows recent allegations of cash distribution in local polls, including a Sindhudurg case, with officials saying credible inputs will draw swift action.
