I-4 Eastbound Near Sanford Closed for Police Investigation of Truck

Officials are investigating a report of an explosive in a truck.

Overview

  • All eastbound lanes of Interstate 4 near mile marker 102 in Sanford are closed, and drivers are being told to use alternate routes.
  • Florida Highway Patrol said it was advised there may be an explosive on a truck and called in Seminole County Sheriff’s Office resources as a precaution.
  • Roadblocks are in place for the eastbound lanes and nearby ramps, and Sanford Police warned of heavy congestion on SR 46, H. E. Thomas Parkway, Monroe Road, and W. Seminole Boulevard.
  • Florida 511 reported the block near the old Seminole Towne Center, and live images showed a large response, including a K-9 checking a semi-truck.
  • Authorities have not said any device was found, and the investigation is ongoing in an area where an I-4 shutdown can quickly spill traffic onto crowded surface streets.
